Flying in Formation

Flying in Formation in FloridaOne of aviation’s best moments is flying in formation. It is one of the most challenging and exciting experiences in an airplane.

To be honest, I like flying in formation just as much as flying aerobatics. It’s a different kind of skill set which is much more precise and it takes time to master.

In this shot, I am flying next to a Beechcraft Bonanza (6 passenger light plane) and they have their rear door removed. The photographer is in a harness and is hanging near the door taking the shots. He has a headset on and talks to me on the radio to let me know where I should be (forward/back/further/closer). We were flying over the Ocean near Jacksonville, Florida taking a bunch of photos. What fun eh?
