Welcome to the website of Jon Melby Airshows! Jon is a 30+ year highly experienced pilot and also an eight year veteran airshow pilot. You can participate by becoming a member of the Jon Melby Airshows Extreme Flight Team! There are multiple benefits of being on the Extreme Flight Team.

* You will have better health

* Potentially earn additional income

* Elite membership with a great team

* You help sponsor Jon Melby Airshows

Being a member of the Extreme Flight Team is really quite simple. Verve logos on the Jon Melby Airshow aircraft are seen by millions of people each airshow season either in person, TV, or in news print. The Verve Energy Drink product is typically sold by individuals and can either be shipped directly to the consumer or sold to retail establishments.

There are two ways to be part of the Extreme Flight Team:

* Purchase Verve on a monthly basis via auto-shipment.

* Purchase Verve monthly and tell others about the Verve product (Best)

- You receive compensation for purchases made by others that you help Join the Extreme Team

To learn more about the Verve products and/or make a purchase, click here. My recommendation is to choose “Get Verve as a Member”. This has the best value and allows you to make income from others who become part of the Extreme Team.

Imagine that being part of the Extreme Team, other people you do not know from all over the world become members. If you join the team as a “Member”, you will be receiving residual income from all the other members who join as well.

If you are unsure and would like more information, contact Lee Melby of the Extreme Flight Team. He will guide you further.

After the engine run-up, the Air Boss releases the performer for their routine. Maintaining focus and clarity of mind is key to a safe, yet entertaining performance.

Before I get “cleared into the aerobatic box”, I do an engine run-up, review my first 3 maneuvers, and ensure that my controls are free and not blocked. I close my eyes and thank God I can do what I love to do, then give it full throttle for take off.

Many times, it’s important that I am ready to go right on time because of a tight airshow schedule. While I wait for the previous performer to finish their routine, it’s fun to look back at the crowd to see the size of the crowd and visualize what they see from their vantage point.

It is one of the most challenging and exciting experiences in an airplane.

To be honest, I like flying in formation just as much as flying aerobatics. It’s a different kind of skill set which is much more precise and it takes time to master.

In this shot, I am flying next to a Beechcraft Bonanza (6 passenger light plane) and they have their rear door removed. The photographer is in a harness and is hanging near the door taking the shots. He has a headset on and talks to me on the radio to let me know where I should be (forward/back/further/closer). We were flying over the Ocean near Jacksonville, Florida taking a bunch of photos. What fun eh?

I fly the Pitts S-1-11B highly modified bi-plane. This is a 340 HP – 6 cylinder motor, 3 blade propeller power house. With the two wings (bi-plane), it is unique – yet recognizable aircraft at airshows.

Personally, I like the bi-plane and the Black/Yellow paint scheme. It doesn’t perform quite as nicely as some of the single wing aircraft on the airshow circuit, but the appeal is how it looks when it flies. It’s unique, fast, slow, powerful, and loud.

Whenever I fly the plane to the next airshow, I usually fly over fuel stop airports and nearly everyone comes around to see what it is. There is a special relationship between a pilot and their plane. My Pitts S-1-11B and I have seen a lot of North America together. After these past few years of flying together, I know this particular aircraft better than any other I have ever flown.
